Marty is a Lighting Designer for theatre Live art and Dance. He studied at The National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) graduating in 2000. From 2001-2005 he was Production Manager for Performing Lines which took him outside Australia for the first time. Touring internationally with William Yang brought him to London and in 2005 he decided to move there. Always interested in experimental work, he became involved in the London live art community. He was a member of Pacitti Company and Production managed their SPILL Festival.

Marty has worked extensively at Chelsea Theatre as Production Manager for their SACRED seasons and on the creation of many shows. He has also collaborated with the Duckie collective on their big club events and theatrical extravaganzas such as Copyright Christmas, Lullaby & Gay Shame. As a Lighting Designer he has created designs for shows at a range of venues including the Southbank Centre, Sadlers Wells, Barbican Theatre, Soho Theatre, Roundhouse, Old Vic Tunnels and Wilton Music Hall, as well as in multiple site specific and gallery contexts. In recent years he has collaborated with Anoushka Shankar, Dickie Beau, Kim Noble, Dog Kennel Hill Project, Amy Sharrocks, Ron Athey, Annie Sprinkle, Penny Arcade, Scottee, Bryony Kimmings, Sheila Ghelani, Chloe Dechery, Curious, Natasha Davis, Bob Karper, The Famous Lauren Barri Holstein, H Plewis, Will Dickie, Andrew Poppy, Julia Bardsley, Karen Christopher, Dominic Johnson and Marisa Carnesky. Marty returns once a year to Australia to work with Kate Champion at Force Majeure. In 2012 he was Lighting Designer for Food at Belvoir St Theatre in Sydney and an extensive national tour.

Recently he has developed a solo practice which investigates light, colour and memory within the gallery space. It takes the form of light paintings using coloured fluorescent tubes. Far From Home was held at Tidemill Studios in London last July & Warehouse Sky was made for the Articulate Project Space in Sydney in January.
